Some open source goodness for you to enjoy at the end of January. I and the rest of the Flash Platform team at Yahoo! have just pushed live version 1.1 of the Yahoo! Astra Library. This version comes to you in two major parts.
First, we have a set of brand-spanking new Flex components. These include AutoCompleteManager, ColorSliderPicker, ColorPlaneAndSliderPicker, DropDownColorPicker (a more extendable version of the regular Flex ColorPicker), IPv4AddressInput, TimeInput, and TimeStepper. Somehow, I personally cranked out everything except the AutoCompleteManager (which is the work of my cube neighbor Alaric Cole). Between working on these components and the YUI Charts recently, you could call me a coding machine. Oh, and I’ve already got some preliminary code written for my next project too.
We also updated the set of Flash components that we released as part of Astra 1.0. The existing components (including Charts, Menu, and Tree off the top of my head) received several bug fixes and a few new features, so be sure to check the release notes in the documentation. Our new team member, Tripp Bridges, added three new components to the set. These are AlertManager, AudioPlayback, and MenuBar.
The Web APIs portion of Astra did not receive any updates this time around. However, I think the Flash and Flex components should keep you busy for a while. Of course, all of our releases are available under the terms of the new BSD license, so enjoy! If you have any questions, comments, bug reports, or feature requests, please post them to the ydn-flash list.
wow, nice work…do they play along nicely with the built in CS3 components?
Of course, Mogwhy. The Astra Flash components are built on the same architecture as the official Flash CS3 components.
